This article lists all common and suggested fixes, also given by MS support in various threads and helpdesk sessions (maybe they were just reading out loud this article, I don’t know). Unfortunately, the LifeCams are not supported by MS anymore. MS will deny it, but many (I’m talking HD-3000 form my own experience) simply don’t work anymore. After an update, ALL LifeCam HD-3000 was removed.
The webcam itself is not recognized by W10 anymore, not even listed in Device Manager as unrecognized. Nothing happens when plugging in and out. The driver set up says that Microsoft LifeCam is not supported by Windows 10 and that I should contact the manufacturerLooks like I’ll have to switch to something non-Microsoft for compatible hardware. This happens on both my desktop and my Surface.
The cam works fine on an old Vista desktop. I had a LifeCam Studio working for years on Windows 7 64bit. When I went to Windows 10, it stopped working, and would not even plug and play. I even bought a new one to see, and same thing. Spent hours with three different Microsoft levels of help, and they all concluded the hardware is not compatible with Windows 10. I will be looking for another webcam product.
How can Microsoft in good faith continue to advertise and sell something that obviously does not work on their flagship Windows 10 OS??? Returned it to Amazon.
